Inside the St. Patrick Cathedral in New York City. Visitors from all over the world stop to marvel at the larger than life size sculpture of Alice, from Lewis Carroll's 1865 fantasy classic Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. Here in Central Park she sits high upon a giant mushroom overlooking the Conservatory Water and presiding over an eternal tea party to which she has invited all the children of the world. Surrounding Alice, this bronze ensemble of characters also includes the White Rabbit looking at his watch, the insane Mad Hatter, the Dormouse nibbling on a tidbit, the Cheshire Cat perched in a tree, and Alice’s kitten Dinah playing on her lap. A favorite of children, the mushrooms and figures have become smooth and polished over the years as pint-sized feet have climbed over them to the top of this 11 foot structure while using their tiny fingers to grab hold of Alice’s hand or the Hare’s ears or support. The sculptor also included plaques with inscriptions from Carroll’s

Hershey's Time Square with the 215-ft tall, 60-ft wide store facade is the largest permanent fixture ever constructed in Times Square. Featuring 34 dimensional props, four steam machines, over 4,000 chasing lights, 30 programmable lights, 56 neon letters, 14 front-lit signs, and every major signage technique used today. Rockefeller Center - John D. Rockefeller originally envisioned this midtown space as a colossal arts hub with the Metropolitan Opera at its center. Then the Depression intervened, so it went on to become the world's first mixed-use business/retail development instead. Its first component was the archetypal Art Deco GE Building (erected in 1934), with its adjoining sunken skating rink, encircled by the flags of all nations and overseen by Paul Manship's golden statue Prometheus. The 14 buildings that complete this sprawling landmark all share the same design vocabulary—limestone cladding, sparing Deco flourishes, and a liberal sprinkling of art works to relieve the otherwise sober effect. Beyond its architectural merits, the center is also a major transit center, a thriving public square, and one of midtown's most concentrated shopping districts. Stores, mainly of the mall-chain variety, can be found at street-level as well on the concourse below. Other tenants include the famed auction house Christie's, the premiere concert venue Radio City Music Hall, and the NBC studios for The Today Show, Saturday Night Live and Dateline. Central Park.
The Rockettes are a national treasure. With every year, the Rockettes become further entwined into the fabric of Christmas in the United States. Their annual starring role in The Radio City Christmas Spectacular at Radio City Music Hall, and in numerous other cities across the United States, is enjoyed by more people in one year than any other live show in America - more than 2.1 million people annually. In 2001, the Radio City Rockettes celebrated 75 years of eye-high kicks and precision dance with the same enthusiasm and vigor that has become their signature trademark. The overwhelming appeal of the world's most beloved dance company continues to grow with each holiday season. New York City photo collection.

Chinese, Japanese, Korean, South and Southeast Asian Art: Tatami mats and screens, sculptures of Zen masters, Shinto deities, and, of course, Buddha, dominate the dimly lit, peaceful Japanese rooms. The sky-lit Astor Court in the Chinese wing so authentically replicates a Chinese garden, with trees, rocks, and live koi pond, that it feels like it's outdoors. Ceramics, jades, and luxury objects figure heavily in the Chinese collection, as does Buddha, a popular figure among sculptures in The South and Southeast Asian Art collection as well. One of the world's foremost art museums, the Metropolitan Museum of Art is comprehensive to say the least, with more than two million works of art spanning 5,000 years of world culture, spread over two million square feet. Opened in 1870, the Met moved from its original site at 681 Fifth Avenue to 14th Street, and then finally up to its current location on Central Park—all the while expanding its collection.
