Aerial photo of Selawik, Alaska. A community with a population of about 850 living in the northwest arctic region of Alaska. The tundra is a very fragile environment. When roads are built on the tundra this causes the ground to thaw and sink. Road have to insulated, built 6 feet high and are very expensive. The village of Selawik has no roads going throughout the community, but has a maze of boardwalks.

A abandon cabin located in the northwest arctic region of Alaska. This cabin was once a reindeer herds home. These was a rare treat to visit this cabin. Not a lot of locals visit to the cabin and it was still in great shape, for a cabin built in the 1910's. About 30 miles south of Selawik, many locals were able to tell me stories about how he rounded by the reindeer and transported goods to the cabin. It was rarely visited by any one and many locals were surprised that we found it up in the hills. An old gold dredge up near the Utica mine about 14 miles outside of Deering, Alaska.
